My name is Collin Brooks. I am an associate pastor at Living Water Bible Fellowship, a local church which can be found in the beautiful, southern Colorado town of Alamosa.
Living Water is a bible-based, Gospel-centered, Christ-exalting congregation. Living Water is a church of wonderful, sanctified and redeemed Christians.
I started this website as a supplement to my ministry. I wanted to minister to my church, and to all of my Christian friends, through the use of an apologetic blog, wherein I regularly challenge cultural issues, false doctrines, and attempt to provide a sound understanding of Scripture.
The name Resisting the Winds comes from Ephesians 4: 11-15. In it, Paul tells the Ephesian church that the offices within the church, including the office of the pastor, have been given to the church by Jesus Christ to equip the Saints for ministry, and to edify believers, growing one another into a mature faith. This maturity is necessary, the apostle says, so that we will not be “children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes” (ESV).
Paul utilizes a brilliant and powerful analogy. False doctrines, the deceitful cunning of the world comes to us like a storm. We must stand on the Rock, Christ Jesus, in order to be anchored in the waves. We must be firmly rooted in Scripture, mature in our faith, in order to resist the winds of false doctrine and human deceit.
This blog is my attempt to assist Christians in resisting those winds.
