Planned Parenthood is Not a Monster

By now many have seen the video footage Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Senior Director of Medical Services for Planned Parenthood offering to sell the body parts of murdered babies to a couple posing as interested buyers. If you have not yet seen the video, here is the link:

Please share the link on Facebook and make sure everyone sees this. There is no graphic footage of abortion in the video.

(It is bothersome that people feel the right to be warned about graphic footage of abortion. Not for the people who actively and publicly oppose abortion. They have every right. Any who support abortion by voting for and promoting it, or by passively remaining silent ought to see the footage. Those who support abortion should not be granted the privilege of hiding themselves from the reality of that which they love. Chopped up babies and bloodied mini-corpses is the reality of abortion, and if you don’t have a problem with that behavior, than don’t object to looking straight into the product of the business you voted for. That is a cowardice on the same level of a southern slave owner making someone else torture his slave, because the images of a bloodied slave is too icky for him.)

Before addressing appropriate Christian responses, the following statement needs to be made: God bless The Center for Medical Progress. God bless those who captured this video footage. This video footage has done more for the pro-life movement than any march or political candidate to date. They even went out of their way to find President and CEO of Planned Parenthood, Cicile Richards, to inform her of the details of the conversation and their thankfulness, and the CEO welcomed them. This corruption then is represented by all of those at the top. Dr. Nucatola casually eating salad, drinking wine, and selling dead baby parts is not an isolated evil; it’s a representative evil.
The kind of deception required on their part to capture this footage is almost on par with that of Rahab the prostitute, or as she could be called, the deceiver. Remember, Rahab was considered righteous through her deception (James 2:25); a kind of righteous deception in which she sent the king’s messengers out looking for Godly spies who she was actually keeping in (Joshua 2: 1-7).
This video footage is damning and revealing. God bless the righteous deceivers who acquired it for this nation. God bless them for the video that (Lord willing) will do much more than the “God loves you” signs our modern-evangelical methodologies have required of Christian pro-life efforts.

The modern methods of reaching out against abortion that dominate society turn the faithful into the judgmental and turns passion into vitriol. Our Christian community would excommunicate John the Baptist from our midst faster than America could legally kill 2,000 children (which takes about a day).

This organization realizes something that all Christians need to: there is severe evil here that needs to be dealt with severely. The national church in America has undergone a surgical removal of the spine; our backbone is missing. And we do whatever we can to distance ourselves from those nasty, unchristlike Christians who preach the Gospel at abortion mills and call sin what it is, and who desire severe civil consequences for the severe civil crimes at hand.

The problem is, the “God loves you” message isn’t working. And this should come as no surprise because the apostles knew this from the beginning evidently because it never once came out of their mouths during their mission trips and Gospel presentations. Not once.Watch the video over and over again and understand what is really going on. People believing that whatever God which may or may not exist loves them is not motivation to repent. It’s actually motivation not to. Why would any Planned Parenthood employee or customer stop what they are doing just because the God they may even claim to not believe in happens to love them? It’s been said before and it’ll be said again: they are banking on that. Try preaching the Gospel at an abortion clinic, or a gay pride parade, or outside of a strip club. Guess what will be said from the listeners: “God loves me! God loves me just how I am! Why would I stop God loves me! You can’t judge me only God can and He loves me!” Paul writes about this in Romans 2. He mentions that the love of God is easy to be abused. God’s love, His patience and kindness, is supposed to “lead to repentance”. Repentance is the goal from sinners; not an intellectual knowledge of love. That is why the rest of Romans 2 is a condemnation of sin. Paul realized the Jews were reveling in their hypocrisy because they were so convinced of God’s love for the Jewish people. That is why Paul rebuked them harshly.

The same Bible that talks about God’s love is the same Bible that says God hates the hands that shed innocent blood (Proverbs 6: 17). No, it does not read: ‘God hates the shedding of innocent blood’. That’s not what the verse says. It says God hates the hands that shed innocent blood. The Bible is using a rhetorical device called synecdoche here. A synecdoche is when a part is used to represent a whole. This is similar to someone saying “come check out my new wheels.” Usually, wheels refers to the entire car. The point being that God doesn’t actually hate a person’s hands. This is why when Jesus says “if your hand causes you to steal cut it off” we all still have our hands. We recognize that our hands don’t force us to do anything. It’s the other way around. We force our hands. With that, when God hates the hands that shed innocent blood, the hands themselves represent the whole. However, quoting Bible verses so often gets people in trouble on-line for being “unchristlike” that the readers will be allowed to replace the part with the whole and do the math themselves. The result is a hard reality Christians must face.

That transitions nicely to the main point:
Planned Parenthood is not a monster.

Planned Parenthood is not a monster.

Christians too engage in so much rhetorical speak in daily language that it can have a negative effect. What is meant by speaking negatively of Planned Parenthood? Did a Planned Parenthood building grow legs, spit out its employees, and uncontrollably wreak havoc in the cities, killing babies at will? What is Planned Parenthood? Planned Parenthood is not a monster; it’s a group of people. Planned Parenthood is individuals. Planned Parenthood has killed no one. People have shed all that blood. Employees, doctors, and patients (the politically correct term here is “victims”) are shedding innocent blood. This video revealed that harshly to us. It put faces on Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood is made up of all its doctors, employees, voters, government money, and patients who willfully choose to murder or support murdering children. It’s easy to speak harshly against Planned Parenthood because that’s not personal; it’s an organization. It is buildings. It doesn’t sound “mean”. But it is personal. It’s very personal. And God hates those hands.

When we watch this video, we ought to see just how deep the evil digs. Much more is going on than just the simple, legalized dismemberment of innocent children who have been convicted of no crime. Those slaughtered body parts are now being illegally sold for profit (with potentially no legal consequences follow). Hearts, livers, legs, and heads in all. Baby heads, baby livers, baby legs, baby bodies are being sold in this country. Read that over and over again until you accept that reality. Perhaps our approach to abortion needs to change.

Which Nazi ought to be off the hook? Before embracing for the accusations of me being unloving and judgmental, which person walking around in Nazi uniform in the pictures and videos of the past has ever been offered a “victim” pass? When people see Nazi’s, when they see someone wearing that terrifying swastika, and when the people partnering with their efforts are read about in the history books, is a pass ever offered to them? Are they off the hook for their dismemberment and genocide of the Jewish people because of personal circumstances they may have endured or because of the incredible societal pressure around them? We never do that. We look into the evil of the holocaust and rightfully judge each and every one who took part in that mass murdering genocide. The symbol has changed and the targeted people have changed, but that’s going on right here in in this country, but it’s not “nice” to point that out.

It’s the Christian’s job to stand up for righteousness; it’s not to be “nice”. There is nothing nice to be said the hands that dismember and/or sell infants. Was Moses nice to the Egyptian beating the Jew? Was David nice to Goliath? Was Jesus nice to the people He whipped out of the temple? Was Paul nice to Peter when he publicly rebuked him in Galatians? Were the Jewish people nice to the Amalokites? Nice is not always the Christian response. Loving our enemies sometimes means harshly exposing their sin and defending the innocent from them. Nice is not synonymous with loving.

Many Christians are shaming us right now for being so appalled. They are shocked we are so shocked. They are shocked that we are shocked because the disgust we feel after watching that video is something we should have been carrying for a long time. The same thing happened after the Kermit Gosnell case. Christians everywhere could not believe that there was a man evil enough to cut the spines of babies or stab them with scissors. And the Christians who have been doing the dirty work on the front lines for a long time were ashamed that the rest of us only just then realized that. It demonstrated many of us don’t really believe what  we say abortion is. Kermit Gosnell wasn’t doing anything different outside the womb than what abortion doctors do to babies inside the womb. We should be ashamed.

I should be ashamed.

Let’s admit that; repent, and get in the fight. Let’s use this video as the motivation we need.
Preach at the mills, call it sin, vote for pro-life politicians, learn the arguments, defend the truth, and pray.

Pray that the Gospel, which is big enough to save murderers, would spread in and throughout all the employees and participants of Planned Parenthood. Pray the Gospel would transform their hearts and save them from the wrath they deserve. Pray every single day. That’s what we can do. That’s what we ought to do.

We ought to let go of our white knuckled grip on patriotism and link arms with brothers and sisters in Christ. We need to care less about the political debate of abortion and care more about the Gospel issue of abortion. Be loose with your patriotism. Patriotism is not a virtue in and of itself. Our founding fathers were not patriots to their original nation.

There is only one nation you, Christian, need to pledge absolute loyalty to. And that nation is described by Peter as “a holy nation” (1 Peter 2: 9). The brothers and sisters of Christ are a chosen race, a holy people, and royal priesthood. That’s where your allegiance belongs. We, as the Body, need to care less about offending the world and more about offending God, His truth, and His people. Perhaps it’s time to lock elbows with the Priesthood and look deeply into the mirror of our nation. Look past the amber waves of grain, look past the bald eagles soaring over frosted mountain tops, look past the dirty hands of hard working entrepreneurs, and look straight into the eyes of the millions of dead babies, lying in our trash cans, legally. Look into those dark black robes of the Supreme Court justices who not only told God his definition of “personhood” was wrong over forty years ago when they legalized killing babies, but they have now told Him His definition of marriage is wrong too. Look into slavery, and blood, and sin. This is what we are. Anyone of those slave owners in the South could look at our nation today and feel better about their sin. At least their sin sold people all in one piece.

Don’t get angry when your brothers and sisters get angry. Don’t look down upon those who long to do more for abortion than just abandon the apostolic example by telling people the God they hate loves them no matter what. Don’t get angry when your Christian nation and fellow priests fight abortion on the streets, on-line, or on their knees. Don’t try to distance yourselves from Christians who publicly call for civil and severe action against abortion. Don’t be so afraid of offending the lost that you trample on your brothers and insult your sisters. Recognize that, although there are wrong and hateful ways to cry out against abortion, there are many that we have been putting into that category that don’t belong there.

Instead, link arms in beautiful communion; join the fight.
